EcoMovie Evening #3: A Night of Inspiration with System Update

EcoTitchfield was delighted to host it’s third EcoMovie event at the Village Hall bringing a cross-section of our community together for an evening of film, conversation, and reflection.

We screened System Update, a powerful new documentary directed by Paul Maple, which tackles the urgent need for radical changes in politics, economics, and society to address the climate emergency. Far from being a story of doom and despair, the film shines a light on opportunities for transformation and invites us all to be part of the solution.

The atmosphere in the room was one of curiosity and anticipation. As the film unfolded, the audience was taken on a journey that was both sobering and motivating—challenging us to think about the way our systems work, and how we as individuals and communities can play a role in creating change.

The evening didn’t end when the credits rolled. We were honoured to welcome Paul Maple himself for a live Q&A session. His insights into the making of the film, the stories behind the interviews, and his reflections on what it will take to build a fairer, more sustainable future were fascinating.

Audience members asked thoughtful questions ranging from how communities like Titchfield can make a difference, to the role of governments and businesses in tackling systemic issues. Paul’s answers reminded us that while large-scale transformation is essential, local action and grassroots movements—like EcoTitchfield—are equally vital in shaping the future.

The night closed with a sense of collective energy and hope. Conversations continued long after the official event had ended, proving that films like System Update are more than just stories—they’re sparks for action.

We’re incredibly grateful to Paul for joining us and to everyone who came along and took part in the discussion. This EcoMovie evening is another key part of our wider Greening Titchfield 2025 program, and in the next few months we look forward to hosting more events that inspire and empower our community. Please make sure you have registered with us on our homepage to be kept informed firsthand.

Together, we can make Titchfield part of the wider story of change.
