On Wednesday 9th April, EcoTitchfield hosted our first ‘Ask the Experts’ evening at Titchfield Village Hall — and it proved to be an evening full of practical advice, eye-opening insight, and empowering information for anyone looking to cut their energy bills and make their home more future-ready.
With a packed room and an engaged local audience, the evening opened with a warm welcome from Andy Rolfe (our Energy Pillar lead) before we heard from three outstanding speakers:
-
Bean Beanland from the Heat Pump Federation kicked things off with a frank and informative look at the stability of the UK’s energy supply. He gave a clear explanation of how the transition to low-carbon heating is not only necessary, but entirely possible — with the right information and support in place.
-
Terena Plowright, founder of the Greening Campaign, helped demystify thermal imaging — showing how heat escapes from our homes and offering simple, cost-effective tips for reducing waste. Her “energy saving home hacks” were a big hit, sparking plenty of note-taking and questions from the audience.
-
Finally, Jo Moodie from the Environment Centre introduced the brand new Hampshire Advice Hub called ‘My Home Made Better’ which is a free service offering impartial support on grants, upgrades, and energy-saving solutions for households. Her presentation gave people confidence that help is available — and that nobody has to navigate the system alone.
The evening was free to attend and open to all — and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Attendees told us they appreciated the clear language, practical advice, and genuinely helpful tone of the evening. Many were surprised by how much support is available locally, and several have already followed up with EcoTitchfield or the speakers to begin exploring upgrades to their own homes.
We were especially encouraged by the number of new faces — and the growing sense that people in Titchfield are keen not just to cut costs, but to take real steps toward a more resilient, energy-conscious community.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who came, and to our brilliant speakers for generously sharing their expertise.

Let’s keep the momentum going — because when we understand our energy use, we can take control of it.
Small steps, big changes.
