Event Description

πŸ“’ A special community screening: The People’s Emergency Briefing #PEBuk

What’s happening with climate and nature β€” and what does it mean for everyday life here in Titchfield and the surrounding area?
Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing, an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather 🍞 Food security πŸ₯ Health πŸ’· Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

After the film, join our local panel for an open discussion about what this means for our community and what we can do here in Titchfield. Our panel includes:
πŸŽ“ Professor Denise BadenΒ β€” Professor of Sustainable Business, University of Southampton
🌿 Katy Gary β€” Senior Community Development Officer, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
…and other local leaders and community voices.

We invited our local MP but unfortunately they are unable to attend due to parliamentary commitments. We hope this evening will send a clear message about how much our community cares about these issues.

Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome – but please reserve your seat in advance as we expect a full house.

Note: the film is only being shown at in-person screenings and is not available online.

The People’s Emergency BriefingΒ is a 45-minute documentary hosted by Chris Packham, drawn from the National Emergency Briefing delivered last November in Westminster by ten leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics and national security. The film presents a calm, evidence-based account of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain β€” and what the science says about the risks ahead. It is explicitly non-partisan and supported by a wide range of organisations, including the Church of England, the National Trust, WWF and the Royal Meteorological Society.

Following the screening, we will host a structured community discussion focused specifically on what these changes could mean for Titchfield β€” our coastline, our flood risk, our roads and drainage, our homes and open land. The recent flooding here has already brought some of these vulnerabilities into focus.

But the conversation we want to start goes further: how do we, as a community, begin to anticipate and prepare for what is coming?
